Jay Corbin, Driver of the #8 Catseye Car: 2012 Season Update

The 2010 Pro Stock Division Champion already has a few wins under his belt this year and is determined to have a strong showing during the final stretch of the 2012 season. Heading into the final ten races, he’s making a run to return to the top of the leader board.

After starting off the season strong by winning the 60th Season Opener on April 14, Corbin would also win the second race of the year, the Opening Night Sportsman. Yet, June didn’t favor Corbin and the Catseye car, as there were a few races that Corbin wasn’t able to finish. On June 16 at the Speedway, Corbin was involved in a crash, which would be followed by engine trouble on NYSSCA Night on June 23, an event presented by Gendron’s Truck Center.

Corbin was victorious at the Speedway in the 20-lap King of Catskills Qualifier on July 7. Paul LaRochelle and Buddy Hencke both got off to hot starts in this race, but after a flat tire halted LaRochelle’s attempt at keeping the lead, Corbin passed Hencke to take the lead during the tenth lap. Corbin went home as the victor that night.

Going into this racing weekend, Jay Corbin is currently ranked fifth in the standings with 647 points, as Chad Jeseo leads the pack headed into the final ten races of the season with 738 points. Corbin’s next race is The Matt Plunkett Memorial Maiden Race tomorrow, Saturday, July 28, presented by Sheldon Oil & Heavy Hauler. Corbin has his sights set on finishing strong this season and has a chance to make a big impact tomorrow night.
