As the weather starts to get warm Carpenter Ants start to appear. A wood-destroying pest like the Carpenter Ant can cause significant structural damage to your home rather quickly.
Carpenter Ants are large, approximately ½ inch to 1 inch in length, and are indigenous to many parts of the world. They prefer dead, damp wood in which to build nests. They reside both outside in dead trees and indoors in moist, decaying wood. They cut “galleries” into the wood grain to provide passageways for movement from section to section of the nest.
Carpenter Ants can leave “Frass” behind, providing clues to their nesting location. If this complex nest happens to be a wall void within your home, structural damage can and will result. Moisture and controlling it is important when managing this species.
