Though pest and rodent activity may slow down a little during the coldest months of the year, the activities you can do don't slow down at all! Catseye Pest Control's team loves the regions we reside in because of the great activities to do this winter. Today, we wanted to highlight a few we think you might enjoy doing this weekend, too.
Capital Region, New York
The Empire State Plaza ice skating rink is open every day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the skating is free! Rent your adult skates for $4 and your kids for $3 per pair, unless it's Friday, when it's free!
If you haven't checked out the holiday lights in Washington Park, you have until January 4 to visit the 16th Annual Price Chopper Capital Holiday Lights. It opens nightly at 6 p.m. for $15 per car.
If you like science and the outside sky, but it's too cold out for you to watch the stars, check out miSci's "'Tis the Season" Planetarium Show, which features a live presentation of the winter sky. Thursday through Sunday until December 30, the show runs at 12 and 2 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, December 26-28.
The holiday lights display of Bright Nights at Forest Park, the largest display in the Northeast, includes displays called American Flag, Kwanzaa, Nativity, Winter Garden, Seuss Land, Letters to Santa, Jurassic World, Toy Land and more. Visit any night through January 1.
Throughout the Berkshires, there are many outdoor activities. Go snowshoeing or hiking, skiing and more at many or the Berkshire recreational areas.
Carson City/Reno/Lake Tahoe
The Arlington Square Ice Rink is open for skating every day now. This weekend, skate on Friday from 3 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
If you go to the Alpine Meadows Ski Resort this weekend, you can see Santa from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday!
Have you seen the Heavenly Holidays festival at Heavenly Village? It features professional ice sculptors, skating shows, local artists, carolers and photos with Santa for kids celebrating Christmas. The festival, great for families, runs through December 31.
Whether you are looking for festivals or regular everyday fun, you can visit Heavenly, Alpine Meadows, Mt. Rose Ski, the Olympic Village at Squaw Valley or Lake Tahoe's superior village for skiing, snowboarding, skating, sledding and other winter fun!
