No Magic Wand: The Key Principles of Pest Control

Over the past 30 years in the pest management industry, one thing has remained consistent – the client’s desire to have their pest issues disappear instantly. As a pest management professional, that is my goal, however, the reality is that it’s never that easy. At times, the unrealistic expectation of a client makes you wish you had a magic wand. The fact that pest management is not an exact science, but rather an art form that requires years of training, as well as years of experience, emphasizes the need for good communication skills.

From nuisance wildlife to those pesky ants, each situation is unique since they rarely behave the way the manuals say they will. The manuals do provide valuable information that will give us a place to start from (this is where the training and experience comes in). Pests will do whatever it takes to survive, because that’s what they do. Having state that fact, the most difficult aspect of pest management is assisting the client in understanding and accepting that reality.

As you are no doubt well aware, by the time we are called in to address a problem, the homeowner or business owner is at his or her wit’s end. If someone promises to solve your problem instantly, we would be leery of his or her claim unless you spot a magic wand in their back pocket.

The key to any pest management program consists of these basic principles:

  • Pest Identification
  • Sanitation
  • Harborage Elimination
  • Pest Proofing

The success of the proposed solution will largely depend on whether each of the key elements mentioned are addressed.

We would like to reiterate that at Catseye, we consider it a privilege to address the pest management needs of our clients. Our aim is to provide quality service that allows us to state with confidence that we are the best of the best!

We look forward to having the opportunity to prove it with our pest control services.
