Bed Bug Populations Rise Over 80%

Bed Bug Populations Continue To Rise

In a recent survey sponsored by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), bed bug exterminations have rised over 80% within the last decade, and over 50% just within the last five years.

There are a few reasons for the dramatic increase in infestations. One reason is that bed bugs have developed a resistance to many of the commonly used pesticides, as we’ve talked about in prior posts. Another reason is that people are traveling more. Bed bugs are hitchhikers and will hide in clothing and suitcases, waiting for their next meal. Bed bugs aren’t just found in apartment buildings and hotels; we’ve recently seen them emerge in clothing stores and office buildings, proving that they do not discriminate.
