It has been said that if you wait long enough, what was fashionable years ago will become fashionable again. This appears to be the case with pests as well (case in point, Bed Bugs). Years ago, parents would say to their children just before putting them to bed, good night don’t let the Bed Bugs bite. This bedtime saying had disappeared for decades. But like fashion it too has made a comeback.
It’s obvious that they never really disappeared which is why you may find yourself sharing your bed with these nasty blood sucking critters. The increase in international travel has been mentioned along with pest management treatments being less toxic as reasons for their resurgence. In fact, treatments increased 80 percent from 2003 to 2004 as an example.

Histoplasmosis is a cool sounding word that can be used to impress your friends until you find out what it is. At which time your response will no doubt be that’s not good.
Histoplasmosis is a disease that results from inhaling the spores of a fungus, Histoplasma capsulatum. In some individuals’ histoplasmosis may cause flu-like symptoms, including chest pain as a result of the respiratory system being infected, dry cough, headache, loss of appetite, chills and hoarseness. In others it may become choric which can cause serious complications even death.

They are the stuff of nightmares and yet when examined closely are a thing of beauty (to some). They are well designed and have all the skills a good hunter needs to survive. To the rest of us, they just freak us out.
To some degree all spiders are poisonous, making them a pest that should not be taken lightly. Why? It’s by means of their venom that they are able to begin digesting their captured prey. From the Brown Recluse, Black Widow and the Aggressive House/Hobo Spider, each is known for its ability to cause individuals to state they freak me out!
Not to cause you any additional terror, but their bites may result in decay of the skin around the wound, leading to tissue damage and loss of skin as well as the neurotoxin causing numbing pain and cramps that can lead to paralysis or even death.
